Look around you…

( For the Lord gives wisdom;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding Proverbs 2:6)

We are all in a classroom! Question is, are you willing to learn?
Let’s put it this way, wherever we are , work, school , bus, taxi , home. We are surrounded by people, situations, challenges, memories and expriences that we can’t fail to draw a life lesson from.
I meet people who say, if only my parents were alive I could have gone to college and pursued this proffesion, some will say if I wasn’t born in this country, in this family, I could have been in a better place and so on and so forth….These are legitimate reasons but they can also be excuses that lead to nowhere.
Some of the most successful people in areas of influence,  entertainment, leadership, sports, and business either didn’t finish college or come from perfect family settings yet they looked for an opportunity,  a solution and a way out of their own circumstances.
It is great to find education in an insitution, classroom etc…(I highly recommend it) but we can’t restrict ourselves to that, yet we are daily surrounded by lessons, tuition free! Question is, are we learning?

Is it Love?

image

Have you ever loved someone so much but you are scared if you tell them their wrongs they will be mad at you or even distance themselves from you?
It happens all the time! Many of us will hide ‘stuff’ under the rug thinking that avoiding the elephant in the room will probably sustain the relationships we have, maybe it’s a pending engagement you don’t want to mess up or miss the experience, a child misbehaving and you’re afraid they won’t come back home, a business relationship you might lose and so on and so forth….
Scripture tells us that Perfect Love drives out all fear (1John 4:8) and we don’t want to be like Priest Eli in the Bible who lost the priesthood because he willingly refused to correct his sons in their mischief (1 Samuel 1:11-14)
If you love someone so much, you will tell them the truth in love, they may react negatively but will thank you later and respect you forever!

Give it all….

image

Don’t we just love to fix certain things and only give to God what fails us?
We many times will talk about an issue, situation, problem whatever it is, to our close friends,  family members who may feel sad for us and later gossip about our trials to others, but will not fix or solve the problem.
The word of God today encourages us to bring everything to the Lord in prayer.  As we pray let’s be reminded, it is his will not ours, our prayers are in surrender to God. The outcome whether it favors us or not…is for him to choose and for us to receive.

Granted, but…..

image

Imagine coming home to ashes and smoke!
Everything they had worked, fought and sweated for was Gone! David and his men did the natural thing, Cry! Why because their wives and children were gone too. But what separates David from the rest of the group is that after crying it all out, he remembered where his help and source of strength was….In God!
I know the situation infront of you might be soooo tough and nobody has any clue to how you feel, you have every right to cry, lock yourself up and all that. But remember life continues,  the clock won’t stop ticking…just like David, pick yourself up and find your strength back from the Lord. When you seek him he will show you or give you an idea on how to take the next step towards recovering all that the enemy stole from you.

By the hand….

image

You can only give what you have! Peter and his friends didn’t have money to give this guy,  but what he needed was the ability to move and then get everything he had missed by sitting and begging all his life.
Even after speaking healing into his bones, there was one more step, Taking his hand and helping him up!
We all start from somewhere, but a helping hand towards our destiny goes a long ways!  Before you judge someone, or make assumptions about their failure to do this or the other,
1. Speak into their life positivity 2. Take them by the hand
3. Help them up and leave the rest to God and them.

How bad is it?

image

You would have to be in this guy’s shoes to totally understand the urgency and intensity in his cry! Sometimes you have to push tradition aside and break all cones in the way for your breakthrough!
This man knew that if he missed this opportunity of Jesus passing,  he would be blind, a begger, despised and poor all his life. The more he was restrained, the more he shouted with a unique cry…Jesus son of David Save mee√®eeeeee!!!!!!  Scripture says, ‘ Everyone who calls on the name of Lord will be saved. ‘ Romans 10:13
As we start this week, call upon the Lord concerning your situation,  he is passing by! In fact he is with you, all you have to do is let him know that you tired of this situation  (name it) and I guarantee you he Will give you all the tools you need to overcome.  Happy new week!

Lemonade!

One of the fruits of the spirit is Joy! Regardless of what’s going on…it can’t be quenched.
When our feet are anchored in faith…that is on the word of God, not promises of a man, pastor,  religious leader, celebrity etc…you will have a steady well to draw from whenever you are faced by tough situations. It is a sign of maturity too, as life won’t throw us only what we can handle.

Who/What is your source?

image

When you recognise and respect your source, your resources will not run dry!

Resource: “Definition”‘a stock or supply of money, materials, staff, and other assets that can be drawn on by a person or organization in order to function effectively’ (Online dictionary )

If you’ve been around a natural supply, ex: a well spring, garden, you know that to have a constant longterm supply you have to tend, clear, weed,  prune your source otherwise it won’t produce at the expected  rate or will even dry up, Fact!
Who/what is your source?
Once you recognize where your sustainability comes from, you take good care to maintain the flow….

Don’t stay down!

image

I love the honesty of scripture! We are given a heads-up here that in life, in our walk with the lord, in our work, there is a possibility or more of falling! We also see here that the main focus is not on the falling, but on getting up!
But how in the world does a righteous man/ woman fall?! And when he does how many times is he allowed to get up?! The text says seven, but I know I have fallen thousands of times and the love and grace of God picks me up each time!   In John 16:33 Jesus promises us that in this world we will have trouble/suffering…but he has also conquered and overcome the world and all its troubles!
Are you still down, beaten again by your familiar foe, addiction, obsession etc….? Are you blaming yourself for that lost deal, fiance, girlfriend, boyfriend that let you down or that missed opportunity. You can choose to get up or stay down but I encourage you to brush yourself up, clean up and let’s face that giant again, greater is he in you than the one in the world!

Watch your garden!

image

When was the last time you heard a message that ‘Cut’ you deep in your soul? The scriptures in Hebrews 4:12 reminds us that the word of God is sharper than any double edged sword! But in our day and age where we have alot of Micro wave/Pop Corn preachers who will do anything and use the gospel to quickly get what they crave for, as well as an abundance of listeners with itchy ears demanding to hear what makes them comfortable and gives them false hopes, we have to be alert and careful with whom we give our attention to and what we allow to be planted in our mind, heart and soul. Just like this audience in Acts 2, is our response to the message, what shall we do? as relates to salvation and getting closer to God or ‘ What do I get next?’
Indeed getting to know God, his word and rightly contextualising his promises beats any fast food/get it quick agenda. Matthew 6:33 tells us to seek God’s kingdom first and All!!! these things will be added to us!
