Who/What is your source?

image

When you recognise and respect your source, your resources will not run dry!

Resource: “Definition”‘a stock or supply of money, materials, staff, and other assets that can be drawn on by a person or organization in order to function effectively’ (Online dictionary )

If you’ve been around a natural supply, ex: a well spring, garden, you know that to have a constant longterm supply you have to tend, clear, weed,  prune your source otherwise it won’t produce at the expected  rate or will even dry up, Fact!
Who/what is your source?
Once you recognize where your sustainability comes from, you take good care to maintain the flow….

Don’t stay down!

image

I love the honesty of scripture! We are given a heads-up here that in life, in our walk with the lord, in our work, there is a possibility or more of falling! We also see here that the main focus is not on the falling, but on getting up!
But how in the world does a righteous man/ woman fall?! And when he does how many times is he allowed to get up?! The text says seven, but I know I have fallen thousands of times and the love and grace of God picks me up each time!   In John 16:33 Jesus promises us that in this world we will have trouble/suffering…but he has also conquered and overcome the world and all its troubles!
Are you still down, beaten again by your familiar foe, addiction, obsession etc….? Are you blaming yourself for that lost deal, fiance, girlfriend, boyfriend that let you down or that missed opportunity. You can choose to get up or stay down but I encourage you to brush yourself up, clean up and let’s face that giant again, greater is he in you than the one in the world!

Watch your garden!

When was the last time you heard a message that ‘Cut’ you deep in your soul? The scriptures in Hebrews 4:12 reminds us that the word of God is sharper than any double edged sword! But in our day and age where we have alot of Micro wave/Pop Corn preachers who will do anything and use the gospel to quickly get what they crave for, as well as an abundance of listeners with itchy ears demanding to hear what makes them comfortable and gives them false hopes, we have to be alert and careful with whom we give our attention to and what we allow to be planted in our mind, heart and soul. Just like this audience in Acts 2, is our response to the message, what shall we do? as relates to salvation and getting closer to God or ‘ What do I get next?’
Indeed getting to know God, his word and rightly contextualising his promises beats any fast food/get it quick agenda. Matthew 6:33 tells us to seek God’s kingdom first and All!!! these things will be added to us!

You are what he says…

image

People will always have an opinion about you concerning your past, present and what they think your future should be like.
But what matters most is what God says about you, to him he sees his child,  he sees perfection, he sees his messenger, he sees his ambassador for his gospel!
Don’t not let people’s opinions shape how you live your life, you are no longer a slave to sin and the world. You have been set free and cleansed. You are holy, faultless and blameless. That’s what his word says about you.

Apply some brakes….

image

We all sin,  we all make mistakes in life, we fall many times and God has been merciful always and takes us in just the way we are with all our filth. But sadly true those of us who have been saved and delivered from certain things are the harshest critics and many times undertakers of those struggling with a familiar weakness. How about we apply the same grace, compassion and patience that was given to us while we were failing? How about we lift and not cast down,  how about we build and not tear down? Remember that woman caught in the act? Jesus responded, ‘ Alright but let the one who has never sinned , throw the first stone’ (John 8:7)  On the same note, while we are helping and showing compassion we need to be careful lest we fall back into what we were delivered from.
