Victory to help others win

He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.
2 Corinthians 1:4 (NLT)

The situations we go through in life not only teach , shape and mould us into better people if we allow, but they also prepare us to be a guide and light for someone else.
As you go through whatever trouble, challenge, misfortune , pain. My prayer is that you will learn everything you need to learn so that you can be fully prepared to comfort, encourage, uplift and motivate someone else out of their own dark times using your personal experience of victory through the storm that would have taken you down, hadn’t it been for God’s help.
Go out in God’s strength, you are victorious but have to go through the process towards the finish line.

What money can and can’t…

But make His Kingdom and righteousness your chief aim, and then these things shall all be given you in addition.
Matthew 6:33 (WNT)

Everything we need and desire is in God. He has made and created everything for our pleasure and enjoyment.( Yes God wants us happy and fulfilled!)
I am sure you have heard of this, money can buy you a house but not a home,  a beautiful woman but not a wife or vice versa , It can buy you insurance but no guarantee of sickness or accidents , It can buy you food but no appetite, we can go all day on numerous things money and possessions can’t give you.
In our verse for today, Jesus gives us the order of priority in our pursuit for happiness and fulfillment.
Making God and his kingdom our chief aim, or as a friend said, ‘ keeping the main thing, the main thing!’ Will not only ground us in unshakeable faith but will make all things name it, less valuable and not the reason for why we live and strive,  but as an accesory for seeking , serving and doing the work of God’s kingdom.
What are you searching for today? Are you fulfilled or just running from one thing to the next?
True fulfillment is in having God and his kingdom fully established in your heart and then you will attract ‘ All these things ‘ and enjoy them too!

Cross the street

A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed. Proverbs 11:25 (NIV)

We all at some point in life find ourselves in a place where we need to be ministered to….not necessarily from a pulpit!
Whether you are caring for a sick relative or friend, counseling a couple going through a storm in their marriage, redirecting a path for a confused teenager, feeding a homeless man on the street ect….there is someone always in need of a refreshing.
While it takes time, money and energy in serving others in need, it doesn’t go unnoticed by our heavenly father. Not only will he reward your efforts but will also position people to minister to you in your time of need.
Look around you, in your neighborhood, at your work place, church , school, there is someone you can be a blessing to today.

Hebrews 13:2
Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.

In our DNA

For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
1 John 5:4  (ESV)

While victory will look different to each individual depending on which level of life they are at. The fact is that God has guaranteed victory to us his children.
Notice the text says ‘overcomes’ Even today God is giving you the ability to overcome regardless of what you are fighting for, against or towards to.
Our victory,  your victory,  my victory is guaranteed!
You now just have to walk towards it, do something!  If praying, pray, if knocking on a door, do so, if it’s leaving a bad relationship, Run!, if it’s starting over, today is new day!
Remember you don’t win until you get to the finish line.
Let’s finish strong, one day at a time..

Who is in your corner

Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Simon,” he said to Peter, “are you asleep? Couldn’t you keep watch for one hour?
Mark 14:37

Everybody wants to have a reliable friend in their corner, even Jesus needed and expected his inner circle to be there when he needed them the most. Unfortunately they too were tired, fatigued,  sleepy and unavailable to stand with their leader and friend in his time of need.
What kind of friend are you? Can you be counted on in a time of crisis or just when the party is popping and the money is good!
On the other hand are you the friend who will understand, forgive and move on even when you don’t get your expectations met or feel let down?
Proverbs 17:17 says, ‘ A friend loves at all times, and a brother is there for times of trouble.(ISV)

Be the best friend you can today…!

The desert place…

Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil Matthew 4:1 (NIV)

The best place to be prepared and set apart for God’s purposes is in the wilderness. It is a time and place  of brokenness,  isolation and desperation.
It is also a breeding place for temptation, quitting, vulnerability and a Devil’s playground!
If you are in a place like that I pray that you will be strengthened knowing that it is only a season, but there is alot of learning to do, please do not take short cuts, learn from all that is presented to you voluntarily or otherwise.

If you are not yet in a desert place, please know that sooner or later you will be there, not as a sign of failure,  punishment or judgement but for preparation for the future,  sharpening, renewal and Revival!

Be careful which voice you are listening to. Is it yourself , the devil or God?

In Psalm 23, David says , ‘ Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,  you are with me….

God is with us through it all and is waiting on the other side of our victory.

Yes you’re in God’s will…

They said to Moses, “Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt? Exodus 14:11
The presence of hardship and struggle is not proof of being outside God’s will for your life. In our verse today, the Israelites had been in slavery for 400+ years, finally God rescues them, but almost immediately they are faced by some big challenges and they start looking back to their life in Egypt, where they atleast slept in their own beds at night, ate delicacies of the land, took their kids to school etc…but had to endure beatings, harsh labour , discrimination, name it during the day.
They hoped for a better, lighter and worry-free life the moment they left Egypt. Yes they were in God’s will but that didn’t take away their daily struggles. They had to trust and depend on God daily for their food, safety,  health and the promised unknown destination ahead of them.

Many of us today are in the same boat! Having to depend on God for the present and future that’s unclear can be and is a challenge, especially when you start doubting whether you are in God’s will or not.

As we take on today, let’s pray for courage and patience to take on one day at a time and  in the process draw closer to God even in the thick of the situation in our way.

Lord give us the courage to see the way you see and help us to grow through the situation life is throwing our way.

Away with these labels…

Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness… Genesis 1:26 (NIV)

As a young boy in Uganda, East Africa, every one I saw with a lighter complexion was a muzungu (White Person ) We would wave to airplanes up in the skies, ‘ Bye muzungu’!   It never occurred to me that there were many shades of white! I never knew the Mexican wasn’t a real muzungu, nor the native American, Chinese,  Japanese,  name it…I thought they just spoke different languages but they were all white to me and my friends!
Many years later I travelled to the states and discovered the different layers of White and Americans,  I met the native American,  the Asian American,  the Hispanic American, Puerto Rican and then I also met the African American!
As if it wasn’t bad enough I discovered there’s also different shades of black! The black American,  the light skinned, the dark skinned and of course like me the African! Now this confused me even the more….I thought black was black because of our similar origins, but not so!
Fast forward I am now married to an African American wife with African, Indian and white blood and together we have two African American boys! What that makes me? Probably an ‘African African’!
While I have had my own share of racial discrimination/bias from whites, the one that hurt the most is from fellow ‘ Blacks’.
Where I am going with this? These labels are not only confusing,  misleading and divisive, they are destroying us.
We are one people created by one God but in different packages and colors…I think of the Cat…yes the cat…the ones in my mother country give birth to an average of 3-4 colors of kittens, but they are still kittens and they are fed and nurtured by mama cat. Now if animals are able to understand their own uniqueness why can’t we learn to not only coexist but erase these labels from our minds?
We might have different exteriors but we still bleed the same blood ‘RED’
Let’s drop these labels and live life like the human race, we are different colors but one people created by one God in his own image and likeness.
