Jesse had seven of his sons pass before Samuel, but Samuel said to him, “The Lord has not chosen these.” 11 So he asked Jesse, “Are these all the sons you have?”

“There is still the youngest,” Jesse answered. “He is tending the sheep.”

Samuel said, “Send for him; we will not sit down until he arrives.”

12 So he sent for him and had him brought in. He was glowing with health and had a fine appearance and handsome features.

Then the Lord said, “Rise and anoint him; this is the one.”
1 Samuel 16:10-12

Greetings friends, I would like to talk to you about Visibility!
This is a word the Lord gave to me personally but I pray it will bless, encourage, quicken and get you prepared for what God is about to do in your life.
If you have driven or walked very early in the morning or night in a place with very little or no visibility you will appreciate what I am about to share with you…
If you have been in a family of many children or relatives but you are not appreciated, recognized, get called by name and others are, you know exactly what I am saying.
If you have worked at the same job, same hours or even more but they skip you and give the raise or promotion to somebody else, you now get what I am saying….

There is nothing as frustrating as not being able to see where you are going even when you are trying so hard to move forward….the same as doing everything in your ability but you don’t get the recognition, appreciation and reward for your efforts.
People look at you but they are not really seeing you, you talk but no one seems to be really listening and paying attention to what you are saying…..this means we are having visibility issues!
You are in a relationship but your partner says he is listening but you can clearly tell he is not paying attention! Ladies can relate to this better!
In our text today, we see the prophet on a mission to anoint the future king and he too has a mental picture of what the king should look like…but in verse 7 God tells him, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
They presented 7 of Jesse’s boys before Samuel, all of them good looking and outwardly a good look and fit for a king but God had someone else in mind, the one who was Invisible…’David’, you see when they called all the sons, David was not even summoned to come…but God had purposed it and chosen that David’s time was Now! he could not be Invisible anymore….
My friend as you read this, I pray that you will be working, preparing and waiting for that call! David was doing what he did everyday, and he was being prepared for this occasion and for what he would do in the future, that is to shepherd and lead God’s people Israel!
So today as you struggle, trying everything in your ability to be seen, recognized and acknowledged, I encourage you to be working, be where you will be found and at the same time waiting patiently for that call, for that opportunity….Be ready because the blanket has been lifted, Now is your time to show up and walk into your promises, dreams, calling and purpose!
We will talk more about Visibility in the near future….But remember be ready, because the favor of God is on you and he wants the world to see the beauty, wisdom, skill and solutions you have to give just like it was for David.

Happy Weekend to you all
Pastor Andrew
